Mokokchung, June 7 (MExN): The Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) has asked customers and public to remain vigilant, and advised them to buy electronic goods only from genuine and registered sellers who sell with proper bills and vouchers.
This plea was made through a press release issued today by MCCI President, Tsukti Longkumer, and General Secretary, Limalenden Longkumer.
The MCCI informed that four persons “were produced” before the office of the MCCI on Thursday by “some concerned citizens.”
The persons were allegedly “found to be travelling, in a Scorpio vehicle with registered number WB 16Q 9700, without any business permit selling fake SONY HD LED Series 3200A television sets and SONY home theater surround sound speakers.”
It was informed that the four persons were travelling on ILPs issued by the DC’s Office, Dimapur, for visiting Tuensang, Kiphire and Mokokchung.
“They appeared to us to be no mere small-time hustlers but members of a highly organized counterfeit electronic goods business operating nationwide. It is also our belief that the soon to happen FIFA World Cup fever in Mokokchung enthused them to travel here,” stated the MCCI members.
Asking customers to be vigilant, they noted, “This is not the first instance that such dubious traders from outside the district, and even from outside the state, have been caught in Mokokchung selling fake electronic goods.”
