C-Edge College NSS Unit builds up community

Dimapur, October 30 (MExN): The NSS Unit of C-Edge College held its annual special camp at its ‘adopted village’ Nihoto under theme ‘Community Building’ from October 26. It was attended by 22 volunteers led by NSS Programme Officer, PP Dukpa. Various community services were carried out by the volunteers within the village.  

For the introductory session, the guest speaker Sinoka Yepthomi, an entrepreneur spoke on the role of youths and students in the society and encouraged the volunteers to move forward in life through the sharing of his experiences.  

The volunteers were also given a course on self defense from Master Nitoka Black Belt I Dan student of 4th Semester BA from the C-Edge college, orientation on NSS was presented by the NSS P.O. Asst. Prof Inza, Dept of BBA and Asst. Prof Alila Ao, Dept of History gave orientation to the volunteers on leadership Skills and the Role of Youth. The NSS unit along with the students and faculty of Government High School Nihoto conducted cleanliness drive on October 27 as a part of the Special Camp. An awareness campaign on HIV/AIDS and ill Effects on consumption of tobacco was conducted for the Students of Government High School, Nihoto Village.  

The college stated in a press release that the Unit was humbled by the letter posted by Tonishe Chishi, from National Peace Prayer Centre Nihoto (NPPC) expressing their appreciation on the NSS Volunteers and their activities conducted during the camp.
