CAKYO condemns rising crimes against Nagas

DIMAPUR, June 29 (MExN): The Chakhro Angami Kuda Youth Organization (CAKYO) has expressed deep concern over recent incidents of violence and anti-social activities involving non-locals, including the murder of a woman from Mhaikam village and the molestation of a Naga woman in a moving auto-rickshaw. In a press release, CAKYO strongly condemned these incidents and said it was anguished by the deteriorating state of public safety. “We denounce all anti-social activities,” it stated.

The organization also extended its support to the Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) for exposing what it described as the “fraudulent acquisition of indigenous certificate and illegal activities” by one Nirmal Jain. “The issue holds a larger conspiracy, and CAKYO stands committed to the DNSU’s cause,” it said, calling on the state government to take the matter seriously and ensure justice is served.

CAKYO also highlighted a recent incident of alleged assault on a Naga customer by non-local traders at Murgipatti in Dimapur, calling it a reflection of a repeated pattern of hostility. “This is not the first case, as many such incidents have gone unreported. A few years ago, a Naga trader or farmer was also assaulted in the same area,” it said. The youth organization warned that it would “take steps as deemed fit if such instances reoccur.”

Reiterating its opposition to illegal taxation and unchecked influx, CAKYO pointed to systemic loopholes and a “discordant alien culture” infiltrating society. It said these issues underscored the urgent need for strict implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland districts. “If there are fundamental flaws in the implementation of ILP, the government and concerned departments must address them at the earliest,” it urged.
