Call to be an ambassador of Tuberculosis

Mon: The World TB day with the theme 'Reach the 3 Million' was organised in collaboration with RNTCP, project AXSHYA, World Vision and MSF at Helipad Mon Town.

Informing that the TB day was observed every year all around the world on March 24 to create public awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis and put efforts to eliminate the disease, Angau I. Thou, IAS Deputy Commissioner Mon, who graced the occasion as the guest of honour appealed the students' community and the participants to be an ambassador of TB. She also urged upon the participants to keep the district clean as 'clean district is a safe district' in every aspect.

After the short program, motor bike rally was flagged off and the participants marched to the District Hospital Mon with Slogan against TB.

On the occasion the organisers have also arranged slogan competition among the schools, which was awarded to 1st Model School, 2nd Angjong Mission High School and 3rd to Little Flower School. Merit award and certificate of participation was also distributed.

Earlier, the welcome speech was delivered by Kehile Seema, DCO AXSHYA Mon, Significant of the world TB day by Dr. Imyangluba Ao, DTO, and vote of thanks by Bonnie DPM (NRHM) Mon.
 
 
‘Mass participation could help eradicate TB’

Tuensang, March 24 (DIPR): World TB Day at Tuensang at GHSS Auditorium on March 24 with a theme ‘Reach the three Million’ a TB test, treatment & Cure for all organized by Tuensang District TB Forum and AXSHYA. The programme was attended by many church leader, tribal leaders, and students from various school and students nurses of civil hospital Tuensang.

Dr. Yanbo Kithan, DTO Tuensang gave the awareness of the TB, its cause, treatment and symptoms in medical terms. He also said the mass participation could help reduce or eradicate TB from the society. Yimkong Advisor Member CKS also took part in the programme encouraged and appreciate the Medical Department and NGO's for working tirelessly in eradication of TB. He also exhorted the students and citizens present in the programme to join hands and help built better and free TB society.

The representatives from AXSHYA Kyupise also elaborated on year's theme which the three million and the functionaries projected work and accomplishing it. He also emphasised on the WHO's message on including TB as a "World Health Issue" and its important of care and its dangers and consequences. He also very clearly stated on the route causes, symptoms and treatment to TB.
 
 
Kohima dist making progress in TB prevention 

Kohima, March 24 (MExN): Kohima Chief Medical Officer, Dr Avino Metha along with Kohima District RNTCP team observed World TB Day on March 24 with the Village Council, Village health committee and community of Kigwema village.

DTO Dr Vezokholu stated that Kohima district is making progress. She said that in the year 2013, 1810 patient underwent sputum examination of which 490 patients were registered for TB treatment and of the total 453 patient registered in 2012 the district achieved treatment success rate of 90%. To help transform response to the disease, rapid diagnostics TB tools for Multi Drug Resistant (MDR) TB is available at DTC Kohima. Acknowledgement of the DOT Provider and cured patient was also done. Dr Asunu Thong, Senior Chest Specialist addressed on the 2014 slogan, ‘Reach the 3 million-Find, Treat, Cure TB.’ She said that byy putting the community first and reaching the unreached with this year slogan everyone can do something to STOP TB with case reporting and treatment and accelerate progress towards zero TB deaths, infections, suffering and stigma she added. Dr Avino Metha, CMO said that World TB Day a call to all health care providers to ensure that they reach everyone suffering from TB, provide access to adequate TB care, diagnosis, treatment available for free at District TB Center Kohima, DMCs at District TB, Chest Diseases hospital at Khuzama, Viswema, Chiephobozou, Tseminyu and Chunlikha Health Centre of Kohima district.

Discussion and resolution with the VHC Chairman, Zha-o Sale and community was held, where it is resolved that all chest symptomatic clients will be mobilized for voluntary sputum testing and those diagnosed will be put on treatment and the community will support adherence of treatment. Dr Khriekoule MO Kimipfuphe PHC delivered the vote of thanks.
