Waromung, February 6 (MExN): Chairman of DAN & NBRM Dr Longri called for making the Milak river area an economic zone which would be beneficial not only to the Changkikong people but to the whole Naga people.
The 29 Jangpetkong Assembly Constituency legislature, Dr Longri - currently the Chairman of DAN & NBRM – was the chief guest at the 72 CSM conference at Waromung village. He exhorted the Changkikong range citizens on the importance of conversing biodiversity and added that Milak area which transverses through the whole range, can be declared as an economic belt, for the people.
In this regard, he urged the people to look towards the development of fields on the recurring theme ‘back to the land’. Dr Longri asserted that the Changkikong range, with its rich biodiversity, has enough avenues for the prospective for famers and entrepreneurs. He called for conservation, a random coal mining (which is having adverse ecological effects on the biodiversity), so that the dream of an ‘economic zone’ along the Milak river belt can be a reality.
About the pathetic road condition of Changkikong range, Dr Longri said that the chief minister and the concerned departments is keeping keen interest for the development of the road. He promised that the road will be developed during his tenure. Nonetheless, he asked for the constant support so that his dream of developing the roads would be a success.
