The signature campaign for retention of the incumbent Nagaland’s Director General of Police (DGP), Rupin Sharma, IPS continued for second day today with people from various walks of life coming forward to show their solidarity.
The campaign gained momentum on Monday with a separate signature campaign being held outside PHQ junction organised by concerned citizens, alongside the mass petition initiated by the PHQ staff. Concurrently, it was held in several locations in Dimapur.
The #retainrupinsharma hash tag also gathered momentum on various social media platforms.
On June 19, banners were displayed in different locations such as Dimapur Government College, DC Court Junction and other locations.
The participants were mostly college students and elderly people who voluntarily came forward and participated positively, it was informed. Signatures were also received online from Kohima and Mokokchung, it was added.
An organizer also informed that the closing of the #retainrupinsharma signature campaign will be held at The Garden, Supermarket, Dimapur from 1pm to 5pm on June 21.
The signature campaign, under the banner of Concerned People of Nagaland and others, started spontaneously through initiative on social media, after the news report about the transfer of the incumbent DGP.
