Zunheboto, April 23 (MExN): The Chief Vety. & A.H. office, Zunheboto flagged off an awareness campaign programme on fertility and managemental aspect of dairy animals at Sataka Town, Zunheboto district on April 18. Following the flagging off, similar campaign programmes were conducted at Hoishe, Zhekiye, Sataka old, Sataka village and Sataka town.
According to a press release, resource person Dr. Bocto Sumi delivered various topics including traits for selection of dairy animals, heat detection, care of dam and calf during the period of pregnancy and after parturation, artificial insemination (AI) and clean milk production. This was followed by group discussions and interactions.
In a separate note, the CVO Zunheboto Dr. Toshi encouraged AI and said that while technically considering all the good managemental practices in a farm, adoption of AI technology too has become very important, without which in today's context, farming in the state might be incomplete for increased/enhanced productivity and fertility.
However, he said, the department through the implementing agency, Nagaland Livestock Development Board of (NLDB) is successfully implementing the technology in different parts of the state. He further informed that more camps would be conducted for other villages and towns of the district.
