Campaign highlights need to conserve rich biodiversity

Dimapur, February 22 (MExN): A one-day biodiversity conservation campaign in partnership with Nagaland Pollution Control Board sponsored by Ministry of Environment & Forest, Government of India, concluded at Old Jalukie, Peren district.
Organized by Legacy Explorers in association with People’s Education Network, the seminar highlighted on the immediate need to conserve the rich biodiversity of the Green district endowed and entrusted to mankind, the guardian of nature reported a bulletin from Manuel Kamson, secretary of Legacy Explorers.
Apart from the students, leaders and elders of the village, the seminar was also attended by environmentalists and senior Zeliangrong student leaders Kangzang Legisie and Perez Ilungheing.
Besides being an organization spearheading and fighting for Child rights and the differently abled, Legacy Explorers have been organizing large scale campaigns and awareness programmes such as the tourney conducted under the theme “Football for Environment” in 2010, which was participated by 57 teams from the district.
“We look forward to working with other societies and NGOs in the near future to ensure a district fully aware of our responsibilities towards environment,” stated director
