The grand finale of Campus Icon “Music for Better Education” Season 5 is just round the corner. With the unflinching support of family members and friends, four finalists have proved their competency and booked their berth to the grand finale which will be held on September 24 at 2:00 pm at Town Hall, Wokha. The four finalists vying for the title are Akumrenla, class 9 student of LMS Wokha, Shanchobeni, class 10 student of Mt. Sinai School Wokha, Randanbeni, class 7 student of DBHSS Wokha and also Thungchobeni, class 9 student of DBHSS Wokha.
A press note received here mentioned that the contestants have been very fortunate to be groomed by Emilo Kinghen (Emilo Patton- one of the first Naga Idol finalists). The contenders got three days each to be with the music icon learning and drawing the best from the well of techniques. The trainings were conducted in the ‘Rehearsal studio of King’s Sound 150:6’at Wokha. “This time the contenders are extremely good and at this rate it is very hard to even guess who will win, because all of them are equally good and they’ve also picked the right type of music for their Vocal chords” commented Emilo.
The Studio is well equipped with portable DB technologies speakers and is an ideal place for rehearsal for Solo artists (both vocal and guitarists). Beside Campus Icon awards, they will also be given Academic Scholarship for 2012 if they are able to secure 60% marks in their final examination. This special scholarship is sponsored by Team Metamorphosis, and for the Academic year 2012 Deputy Commissioner- Wokha Rovilatuo Mor has also volunteered to sponsor one student and the team is all grateful to him for his encouragement. The judges for the Grand Finale are David Koza from Dimapur, Pipososang Jamir from Tseminyu and Zhalie Neinu from San Francisco USA.
The note also mentioned that all the members in the team are young and self employed and they’ve been doing this on their own for the past five years yet, there had not been even a single year where they had earned some profit at least for the humble efforts they’ve rendered. In a way they’ve been truly selfless. All they thought was that they’re also doing something for the society. And for this reason they deserve to be appreciated by one and all and even the State Government would not make mistake in helping this kind of people/ group / organizations. “Since we have very limited resources as we are all self employed also and so we thought this year we’d approach the state Government for back up, but perhaps we were late because when we did (submitted our application) we were told to wait as the government would have to discuss and we never got any result. So at least for next year we’re planning to approach early. But thank God, we had Gugs Chishi as our chief guest during the 2nd audition this season” said some of the team members.
