‘Campus Waves’: Patkai College students pay tribute to radio with original jingle

Chümoukedima, February 13 (MExN): The Department of Mass Communication, Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), marked World Radio Day on February 13.

On the occasion, the second year Mass Communication students launched an original radio jingle titled “Campus Waves.” The song was produced as a tribute to the spirit of campus radio and student expression and to highlight the continued relevance of radio in today’s rapidly changing media landscape.

This year’s theme, “Radio and Artificial Intelligence: AI is a tool, not a voice,” set the tone for reflection and discussion. The students explored how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can assist the radio industry in production, editing, and distribution, while emphasizing that the human voice, emotion, and storytelling remain at the heart of broadcasting. The programme stressed that technology should support creativity, not replace authenticity.

“Campus Waves” was sung by Sharon Woleng and Benri Murry, with production led by Toto Achumi and Bendangsunep Sor.

Mhabemo Jungio and Tsurunkhuing Yimchunger, composed the lyrics, while the recording was handled by Vizaneino Kiso and Chingri Rainam. Backup vocals were provided by Hosea Weitsi, Rangcholi G.N., and Surotsa Anar, adding depth and harmony to the track.

The music was created using BandLab at the department studio, showcasing the students’ ability to combine digital tools with creative storytelling.
