Participants with Bishop of Kohima during the Lay Leaders & Catechists Conclave 2023 held in Chümoukedima.
Chümoukedima, September 30 (MExN): The Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) organised Lay Leaders & Catechists Conclave 2023 at Newman Pastoral Centre, Chümoukedima from September 27 to 30.
The conclave was attended by more than 160 Catholic leaders from all over Nagaland. Resource persons included Fr Vekupa George Rhakho (Director, Newman Pastoral Centre, Chümoukedima), Fr Jaison Thomas (Rector, Good Shepherd Seminary, Dimapur), Fr GL Khing (Vice Principal, NEISSR, Dimapur), Elias T Lotha (Transport Commissioner, Govt. of Nagaland &Advisor, CAN), Veronica Nriame (Psychiatric Social Worker, DMPH, NHAK, & Joint Secretary, NCYM), Johnny Ruangmei (Joint CEO, NSDMA, Govt of Nagaland & President, CAN), Fr Paul Inashe OFM Cap (Parish Priest, St Francis of Assisi Church, Lazami), and Fr Carolus Neisalhou Kuotsu (Vicar General & Ecclesiastical Assistant, CAN).
The event concluded with the annual Central General Body meeting of CAN with Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, as the special guest. During the meeting, CAN honoured 9 jubilarians who have served 25 years or more as catechists. These were Pezachülie Philip, Hubert Apei Phom, Neisiezolie Cyril, Paunam Mark, Anthony Magh, Thungdemo Timothy Ezung, Urbanus N Ezung, M John Patton, and Krusalie Petrus Sophi.
