Can Youth hosts mental health awareness for adolescents

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 2 (MExN): As part of a six-month campaign addressing critical social issues, Can Youth organized an Awareness Programme at Naga United Village on August 31, 2024. The event focused on mental health, substance abuse, and the overall well-being of adolescents under the theme "I Can."

The program, which began at 1:00 PM, was led by Siroj Loitam, Assistant Accountant at Can Youth, and opened with an invocation by S. Yanger, Pastor of Chang Baptist Church, Naga United Village. Lovito M. Chishi, Project Development Manager at Can Youth, then provided an overview of the organization's mission, emphasizing the campaign's focus on equipping adolescents to drive social change.

Dr. Temsuyanger, a psychiatrist from Dimapur District Hospital, conducted a session on adolescent mental health, addressing the challenges posed by physical and emotional changes. He encouraged the participants to develop life skills and take on leadership roles.

The first session concluded with interactive ice-breaking activities led by Nuyielu Nyekha, Senior Project Manager at Can Youth, promoting a sense of unity among the participants.

In the second session, Can Youth official Jenpu Rongmei shared a powerful personal story about losing his brother to drug addiction and his own battle with alcohol abuse. 

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Binod, Assistant Project Developer at Can Youth, and a closing benediction by Benjongsenla.
