Can Youth to launch community first responder training

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 26 (MExN): Dimapur-based non-profit organization Can Youth is set to launch its Community First Responder Training Program on January 27 at 10:30 am at Rongmei Customary Court, Chungaizaeng. The initiative, organized in collaboration with the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), aims to empower community members with essential lifesaving skills and engage youth in disaster risk reduction activities.

Can Youth, established in 2010, focuses on supporting underprivileged and disadvantaged sections of society through five thematic areas: Health, Education, Child Rights, Active Citizenship, and Skill Building & Livelihood. The organization uses programs and capacity-building initiatives to enhance the lives of children, adolescents, and youth, including school dropouts.

The training program is designed to prepare trainers with hands-on skills and knowledge necessary to provide immediate assistance during medical emergencies, bridging the critical gap before professional help arrives.

Nuye Nyekha, Senior Project Manager at Can Youth, spoke on the importance of community involvement in emergency preparedness, stating that the program reflects the collective effort to build a safer and more compassionate society.
