Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): Can Youth, in collaboration with the Thahekhu Village Students' Union (TVSU), held a coordination meeting for the proposed Youth Social Action Forum on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Career Conflict at Thahekhu village on June 2, with support from Bosco Institute, Jorhat, Assam.

The meeting was chaired by TVSU Vice President Iwuto Chishi and focused on strengthening coordination and planning for the implementation of the forum, which seeks to provide a safe and inclusive platform for youth engagement on key social issues.

During the programme, Can Youth Youth Facilitator Livino Sumi introduced the organisation and highlighted its work since its establishment in 2010 in the fields of healthcare, education, leadership development, and climate resilience.

She also briefed participants on the Youth Resource Centre (YRC) Project and stressed the importance of establishing a Youth Social Action Forum to encourage youth participation, social responsibility, and community development.

Founder and Chief Functionary of Can Youth, Jenpu Rhakho Rongmei, shared the organisation’s journey and elaborated on the objectives of the project. He also underscored the importance of mental health and well-being among young people.

According to the organisers, the forum aims to address two critical but often overlooked issues—gender-based violence and career-related conflicts between youth and their families. Through dialogue, awareness programmes, and collective action, the initiative seeks to empower young people to become advocates for positive change and contribute to building communities where rights are respected, voices are heard, and aspirations are supported.

The meeting concluded with active participation from attendees and a collective commitment to making the Youth Social Action Forum a meaningful platform for youth engagement, leadership, and positive social change.
