Dimapur, May 3 (MExN): Candidates and students aspiring for the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) examinations are appealing to the chairperson of the commission to reconsider the dates of examinations so aspirants can sit for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examinations.
A letter from aspirants received here and addressed to the NPSC chairperson appealed for postponement of NPSC main examinations to give equal opportunity to Naga students appearing in the UPSC preliminary examinations to be held on June 12 2011.
The letter stated – “On behalf of the students who are appearing for the NPSC (Mains) Exam, we would like to bring to your notice that the UPSC (Prelims) Exam will be held on the 12th of June 2011. Given the changes that the UPSC has brought in the syllabus for the preliminary exam, it has become difficult for the candidates who will be appearing for both the NPSC mains and the UPSC prelims exam to focus and prepare for both the exams simultaneously.”
Further, keeping in mind the differences in the nature of the two exams, the letter said candidates are unable to do justice in the aforementioned examinations. “In a difficult time when we are preparing on a new syllabus to compete with the best from all over India, writing the NPSC main exams just weeks ahead of UPSC will put us at a huge disadvantage,” the students stated.
The candidates who are preparing for the exams from outside the state will be at an added disadvantage because of the time wasted in travelling to-and-fro for the examinations, the letter said. “Therefore, in the interest of the candidates and the State which will benefit if many are selected in both the exams, we would request your esteemed authority to kindly reconsider the dates for the NPSC exam and to postpone it to a later date after the UPSC prelims exam.”
