CANSSEA awaits Govt’s ‘wisdom’

Dimapur, June 17 (MExN): The Confederation of All Nagaland State Service Employees Association today said all state governments including the north-eastern states have revised their employees’ salaries with effect from January 1, 2006. The CANSSEA is expecting that the state government would fulfill the demands “to the fullest possible extent”, the CANSSEA said in a note today from its vice president and treasurer.

The CANSSEA said it is “mentally prepared to be reasonable even without claiming our arrears to a great extent which is ranging approximately from Rs.2-7 lakhs for each member of 80 plus thousand employees.” However, this would be provided that “incremental benefit is allowed at par with counterpart central employees so as to maintain pay parity to the absolute total emolument and the effective date is maintained to a considerable extent.”

The CANSSEA said it is not interested in going for agitations against the government. “But sometimes when our due share is deprived of, and suppressed upon by the government we are compelled to do so,” the organization stated. The CANSSEA also said that Manipur employees have been in agitation from January 16 till May demanding implementation of the 6th Central pay Commission in Manipur. “Their demand was now considered. Meanwhile when the CANSSEA went off for 3 days mass casual leave which is within the purview of our entitlement, it was castigated by certain section of people as if it was purely on our selfish motive and have no genuine justification,” the note explained.

“We are waiting for the government to exercise its wisdom and if our contribution of at least Rs. 2400 crore to the state fund by way of forgoing our due arrears is not appropriately reciprocated we are still ready to go for the next course of action and may even reclaim what is exactly due to us,” the note added.
