
MOKOKCHUNG, DECEMBER 4 (MExN): Capacity building and training on Viral Hepatitis was held on December 3 at the Conference Hall office of the Chief Medical Officer Mokokchung.
Resource person Dr Kilangwapang Pongener, SMO, IMDH Mokokchung stated that, in the world every 30 seconds 1 patient dies of Viral Hepatitis related disease. With an aim of eliminating Hepatitis by 2030, the National Viral Hepatitis Control Programme was launched. 10 years ago, Hepatitis treatment was very expensive but with the launching of this programme, all tests are free and medicines are freely available.
He called upon the trainees to refer patients to the District Hospital for screening if any suspected cases of Hepatitis are found during OPD. The trainees were trained on symptoms of Hepatitis, how Hepatitis spreads, treatment and its prevention. The training was attended by CHOs and ANMs of all Health Units.
