A three-day long capacity building on career counseling for Block Level Resource Persons commenced today at SCERT, Kohima. This programme is conducted by Samagra Shiksha Nagaland and Directorate of School Education in collaboration with Antarang Foundation, Mumbai Maharashtra.
Addressing the inaugural session, Thavaseelan K, Principal Director, Directorate of School Education, stressed on the need to providing comprehensive career guidance to the students in the state to choose career based on their interest and abilities.
Thavaseelan also shared on the need to provide career guidance to children starting from Grade 6 stating that herd mentality tends to influence children in choosing career instead of following their interest and aptitudes.
He appreciated Samagra Shiksha and Antarang team for initiating the crucial training programme for the state.
Earlier, Priya Agarwal, Founder Director, Antarang Foundation Mumbai expressed gratitude to Commissioner & Secretary School Education and SCERT, State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha and Principal Director School Education for facilitating partnership with Antarang Foundation.
Dr Bijano Murry, Joint Mission Director Samagra Shiksha chaired the inaugural session.
A total number of 83 Block Level Resource Persons along with state officials from Directorate of School Education, NBSE and Samagra Shiksha are attending the training programme. The trained Block Level Resource Persons shall be providing Career Counseling to students in the state.
The programme will continue till October 25.
