Capacity building programme held

Dimapur, May 13 (MExN): ATMA Dimapur of Medziphema and Chumukedima blocks conducted demonstrations and capacity building at Naharbari and Seithekema on May 11. Resource person Dr. Aseno, BTM, and Debbie, AHO and BTT member, gave a demonstration on how agriculture products like tomatoes, bananas, mangoes and chilli egg can be processed into value added products like banana cake, tomato sauce and puree, mango pickle, chilli pickle etc. Often this locally available farm produce are left to rot during bulk production and harvest season leading to economic loss. Value addition to agriculture product therefore increases economic value and consumers appeal if in agricultural commodities.   Dr. Aseno also spoke on deworming, how it is equally important in human and animals. The symptoms of worm infestation include diarrhea, vomiting, stomachache, poor health, anaemia, coughing and epilepsy in some cases. Therefore proper sanitation of hands, proper washing of vegetables and cooking of meat and regular deworming of both human and animals are necessary.
