Dimapur, September 29 (MExN): The Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission successfully concluded the second phase of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)-NBHM collaborated, capacity building & skill upgradation training on beekeeping for 32 Beekeepers on September 28 at its Multi Utility Centre, 6th mile, Dimapur.   The trainees comprised of progressive beekeepers and interested individuals and entrepreneurs drawn from six districts (Kohima, Dimapur, Peren, Mokokchung, Phek and Zunheboto). The training aimed to sensitize and equip the trainees with skills on scientific management of honey bees, sustainable honey harvesting techniques and marketing skills for honey and hive products, leading to enhanced honey production and increase in beekeepers population.   On the concluding day, Ntsemo Ngullie, Chairman NBHM expressed gratitude to GIZ for the support extended to NBHM by sponsoring the two trainings. He stated that the beekeeping mission was launched by the Chief Minister as a State Mission for promoting the State’s immense beekeeping and honey potentials.   “The Mission had achieved a lot since its inception, but lately due to fund constraints development could not take place on expected lines,” however, he expressed hope that the Government would pave the way with additional funds to achieve the goals laid down by the mission so that the State’s promising beekeeping and honey sector could be tapped.   He called upon the beekeepers to implement what they have learned and to tell the people about what they have learned. Later he awarded the certificates to all the trainees. Each trainee also received a bee box, swarm bag and bee veil as starter kits.
