A five day long capacity building short term training cum women’s health seminar got underway here today at The Legacy under the aegis of Women Organization (Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party) Kohima Region.
24 women registered for this programme. They will be trained in the field of cutting & tailoring, flower arrangement, hair & beauty and baking.
Launching the training programme, Avio Tetso, president NDPP Kohima Region urged the trainees to actively partake in the training programme and upgrade their skills.
He said the training programme will go a long way in grooming and benefiting many to start business and boost the economy. He informed that the PDA government under the chief ministership of Neiphiu Rio is giving special attention to youth and women in the state.
Also stating that the PDA government is focusing on transparency and accountability, he also called upon the women folk to come forward and avail various schemes/facilities being provided by the government.
Women Organization (NDPP) Kohima Region president Kekhrienuo Meyase said this training is being conducted in accordance with the guidelines of PDA’s Common Minimum Programme on women and children.
She thanked Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio for making it a reality.
She said the idea behind this training is to train the women in certain skills so that they can start home based entrepreneurial business.
It also aim to create human capital for a sustainable livelihood especially women folk to supplement their family income.
Though this training is being organized by NDPP Kohima Region women organization, she said the trainees were selected irrespective of party affiliation “because we want to give opportunity to deserving women.”
The resource persons of the training include Zenivonuo Nakhro, Grace Swu, Dziesevi Angami and Mhiesinguto Mark, senior project coordinator TLI project from Directorate of Women Resource Development, Nagaland, Kohima.
Later, Dr. Joyce Z. Angami acted as resource persons of “Women’s health” seminar.
On the concluding day of the training, oven, sewing machine, grooming kits etc. will be given to the best trainees as start up incentives to enable the women to start the business venture.
The training will go on till December 3.
