Medziphema, September 16 (MExN): The District Industries Centre (DIC), Dimapur, Department of Industries & Commerce, Government of Nagaland, organised a one-day capacity building workshop on One District One Product (ODOP) at City Centre, Medziphema, Chumoukedima, on September 16.
Delivering the keynote address, General Manager, DIC Dimapur, Chikutoh Nyusou, highlighted the objectives of ODOP and the importance of entrepreneurship and MSME development. He also highlighted pineapple cultivation as an important horticulture crop and source of livelihood for farmers in Medziphema.
Nyusou stressed scientific and improved cultivation practices, sustainable farming, post-harvest management, reduction of wastage, marketing and collective participation. He said the workshop aimed to equip pineapple growers with practical knowledge and skills, address challenges in cultivation and marketing, and create awareness of opportunities under the ODOP initiative.
During an interaction with technical expert Zakietsono Jamir, Founder, Coffee Lady, practical insights were shared on product quality, processing, packaging, branding and marketing. Jamir also highlighted how locally available agricultural resources can be transformed into marketable products to create additional income and employment opportunities.
The workshop featured sessions on the ODOP initiative and pineapple processing, value addition and enterprise development, delivered by Kiyelu T Yeptho. A session under Make in Nagaland and RAMP focused on digital business development and operational management, encouraging participants to use digital platforms for business promotion, customer outreach and market expansion.
Introduction to RAMP Nagaland was delivered by Pikali Zhimo, while the programme was chaired by Lika, Project Associate, RAMP. The workshop concluded with an interactive session and remarks by Jethro Mesen, Functional Manager, DIC Dimapur.
The workshop was attended by 78 pineapple growers from Razaphema, Molovom, Maova, Medziphema, Zhuikhu, Bungsang, Socunoma and Tsiepama, the State DIPR informed.
