
Dimapur, July 11 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur Maongwati Aier has issued an order against quarrying and washing vehicles along National Highway 39 between Dimapur and Kohima. Special reference was made to hotels and shop owners in particular at Piphema, and villages along NH-39 who have been ordered ‘to refrain from washing vehicles.’
The order comes in compliance of the directive from the Chief Minister’s Office on July 9 after the physical inspection of roads between Dimapur and Kohima by the chief minister, the SDIO of Dimapur informed today.
Action to be immediately taken on NH-39 between Dimapur to Kohima has been ordered to check damage caused by collection of stones or boulders from roadside quarries as well as against ‘unregulated washing of vehicles alongside roads.’ Banning both practices, the government said violators shall invite penalty of Rs. 10,000 along with cancellation of hotels or shops permits.
All hotels and shops owners at Piphema on NH-39 as well as villages shall immediately refrain from “unauthorized washing of vehicles in the roadside and collection of stones/quarries along the road should immediately stop herewith,” the SDIO stated.
Further, the CO of 15 RCC BRTF at Zubza is requested to repair all damaged portions of NH-39 between Dimapur to Kohima including culverts, drains and the about-570 meters stretch of the road near the village boundary of Pherima-Tsiepama on NH-39 which is about 15 kilometers from Medziphema (Ghaspani) NH-39. All landslide places are to be cleared and piled away on top priority, the order said. The CO of BRO is also requested to provide the required quantity of gelatin explosives to the Tourism department to blast rocky portions of the proposed Helipad at Dzukou valley.
