Dimapur, September 6 (MExN): The Placement Cell of St. Joseph University, in collaboration with the Indian Navy, organized a career guidance talk aimed at enlightening students about opportunities in the naval forces. The event, held on the university campus, was designed to spark interest in the wide array of career paths available within the Indian Navy.
Lieutenant Commander Renu Ramdurg of the Indian Navy was the keynote speaker for the event. Her presentation, titled “Indian Navy as a Career Choice,” provided an in-depth look at the various positions within the Navy, from sailors to commissioned officers. She highlighted the benefits of a naval career, including opportunities for advanced studies at prestigious institutions like the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Major Praveen, an ENT surgeon in the Indian Army, also spoke briefly, offering insights into career opportunities within the Army and adding to the students' understanding of military careers.
Lt. Cmdr. Ramdurg detailed the qualifications and competitive exams required for entry into the Navy, while also discussing the unique rewards of naval service, such as the honor of serving the nation and pursuing educational advancements.
The session concluded with a Q&A, where students asked about eligibility, career progression, and the age limits for joining the Navy after completing their degrees.
The event featured contributions from several participants, including Sisino, a BBA V semester student, who chaired the session; Aching Susanna, Placement Coordinator, who gave the welcome note; and Yaluta Feedhu, BBA V semester student, who delivered the vote of thanks. Anthony (MBA III semester) and Samsamyile (BBA V semester) offered the invocation and benediction, respectively.
