Organisers of the 'We Care' concert during the press conference at Symphony Café.

To raise relief funds for Kiphire, ‘We Care’- a fundraise concert for Kiphire will be held on September 16 at The Heritage, Old DC Bungalow, Kohima. The concert will feature popular bands and artists Powerfaith, SNF Dimapur, Tune Up channel from Mokokchung, Ethnic Future, Mengu Suokhrie & Band, Mete, Dreamz Unlimited, Harmonic Voices, Mezanuo Ngukha, Brooke Shitiri, Zaza, Atsula and CBCK Children’s Chorus. While the entry for the concert will be based on free will donations, concerned persons can make their contributions through online payment.

Initiated by the Symphony Production and Symphony Academy of Music in collaboration with NBCC, Indihut and Musicians Guild, the concert is supported by Rattle & Hum Music Society and Seyie Auto.

Addressing a press conference on September 4 at Symphony Café, organizers of the concert highlighted concerns and objectives behind the concert.

“This is just a small step to support Kiphire and we hope that other organizations and groups will also come forward and raise funds for other affected districts. Artists are coming from several districts without any charges. We want to put a good show so that the people are also satisfied along with their contribution,” said Mele Pucho, from Symphony Production and Symphony Academy of music. Stressing on the need to support each other in times of needs and the Church’s role in supporting its members, Vikuo Rhi, NBCC Youth Secretary expressed, “We should not neglect our people’s suffering. If we do not take care of our members, if the church don’t have concern for its members what good is there in preaching and teaching? We need to carry each other’s burden.” While NBCC does not have the capacity to extent help to every individual or visit all affected areas, the Council has assured that it will network its Associations and churches to reach out to their nearest affected areas and render all possible support. Information will also be disseminated in all its member churches in Kohima on Sunday to support the cause towards Kiphire, one of the worst landslide affected districts in Nagaland.

Focusing on the importance of the gesture, Yanpvuo Kikon, Founder of Indihut, put emphasis on the support of a close knit society like that of Nagas which must be practiced in recent times and most importantly in times of tragic disasters. “In a close knit society like Nagas, when a member is suffering the whole village goes out to support and care for that one member. We need to inculcate this value of selflessness in a progressing society. We need to be more concern about our public wealth mo

re than private wealth. This is a significant step we are taking. If we are united we can do great things,” remarked Kikon.   “When the state is going through a rough time we need to stand together,” added Kevisa Khamo from Lead Entertainment expressing the hope that people in Nagaland will come together in support of a worthy cause instead of blaming each other.

The event will begin at 2.30 pm with an Open Mic show where the audience can participate and perform songs, dance and poetry. A food court will also be set up at the event while the concert will begin at 4.30 pm. For online payment, concern persons can contribute at the account number- 501920110000194, Bank of India, IFSC: BKID0005019.
