Powerplay stuns defending champion Trinity Sporting
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 19 (MExN): Defending Champion Trinity Sporting lost their first game of the season against a tough Team Power play today. Powerplay were fortunate as they were awarded two penalties. However, they could not capitalise on it. Akika (jersey no 9) missed both the penalties. However, towards the end of match, Benjamin (jersey no 20) opened the score with a neat finish. Powerplay won 1-0. Trinity Sporting leads the league table with 14 points.
In the other match, Nizams FC continued to slump further down the table by losing to Case FC by 3 goals. Cases FC were awarded a penalty in the first after a silly mistake from the Nizams FC Defence. Moa (jersey no 19) converted the penalty. Chichamo (jersey no 18) of Case FC stood the highest to score the second goal from a towering header.
Nizams FC could not capitalise on the many chances. Tieso (jersey no 23) scored the third goal in the second half.
Case FC are second on the table after the win today with 13 points.
Meanwhile G Sporting Club defeated an under strength STAFAC by 7-2 goals. The star performer of the match Lanu (Jersey no 3) scoring 4 goals (40th pen, 70th,74th pen, and 79th) and two assists for Yanger (Jersey No 2) (55th and 73th) turn around the match after a highly entertaining first half. Veteran Yambe (Jersey no 10) opened the high scoring game for winning team on 20th minute with closed range finish. Ruleto (Jersey no 10) (26th) and Ravi (Jersey no 32) (46th) found the net for the STAFAC.
