CASE Premier League 2018

Trinity beat Nizams, Natak continue winning streak

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 28 (MExN): Trinity beat Nizams FC 4–0 while Natak continued their winning streak at day 6 of the ongoing CASE Premier League.   Defending champs Trinity Sporting blanked Nizams FC 4–0 to find a berth in the top three of the league standings this week.

Although the Nizams started strong gaining ball possession most of the time, a misunderstanding between Nizams goalie Temsumeren and left back defender Shem opened a chance for Trinity winger Gigin to take advantage of the melee to score the opening goal for his team.

The defending champs scored another within minutes, this time through Viseyie. Nizams almost hit back as a dashing Aloto outran his marker, however he struggled to connect the volley and the ball was safely collected by goalie Aning. As the match entered the second half, misfortune struck the Nizams’ side as a penalty was awarded for a handball inside the six-yard area. Viseyie stepped up to take the penalty doubling his scoring tally.

In similar fashion, another penalty was awarded to the winning side, however Nizams custodian Temsumeren made an acrobatic dive to deny Trinity striker Atokito’s spot kick. Atokito redeemed himself for his miss earlier as he unleashed a sensational goal which rocketed into the back of the net just before the referee blew the final whistle.

Meanwhile, Natak FC continued their winning streak with a 3–0 win over CASE FC. The league toppers got off to the best possible start when Neibu’s shot on the turn was blocked by CASE goalie Jaimeren, however Rohit reacted quickly to find the rebound and scored from close range giving his team the lead.   In the 23rd minute, Natak doubled their lead as Neibu dribbled past two defenders and slammed the ball from inside the six-yard box. CASE FC started off brightly in the second half, however the Natak defense proved too strong for them to penetrate.

Natak FC had another decent opportunity. A lofted ball from veteran player Sanjit fell perfectly to Pokhotso, who struggled to keep the ball down – his left-footed shot going over the crossbar. After a few chances for either side, it was Rohit who killed the game with a close-range effort after latching on to a deep cross from Supong.

In another match, Sporting Union earned three points to go second place in the league table after they beat Joga Bonito 3 – 1 in a thrilling match.

The match began with Sporting Union taking control of possession but could not convert any of it, leading to a goalless first half. In the second half, the Union players came out with the intent to score and they duly scored the first goal through the boots of Aonungshi with a sublime chip ball over the keeper.

Joga Bonito went looking for the equalizer but were caught on the break and Akum scored a lovely goal through a wonderful strike, giving the keeper no chance to save. Despite being two goals down, Joga Bonito continued to fight and were rewarded with a goal from Dr. Lurong. As Joga Bonito continued to press for the equalizer, they were caught on the break and Akum struck a beautiful shot from outside the six-yard box sealing the game 3 - 1.

Super Strikers also picked up their first point of the season with a 3 – 3 draw against Ruboo United. The match saw both teams attacking from the start. However, Ruboo United took the lead in the 10th minute as Lima provided the assist with a sublime defense-splitting pass to Jungshi who put the ball past the keeper.

The Strikers struck back in no time after the Ruboo keeper Nongothung made a fatal mistake giving skipper Vayu the chance to score from close range. Both teams created chances but were wasteful in front of goal.   Just before the break, Ruboo went ahead through a nice finish from Aito. Super Strikers came out stronger in the second half and scored two goals within 8 minutes via Katovi and Kuhokhu. Although the Strikers enjoyed ball possession ball, they failed to create any clear-cut chances. And it was through a lovely interchange of passes that saw Aito score the equaliser for Ruboo United in the 61st minute.
