DIMAPUR, JANUARY 5 (MExN): The Catechists of St. Peter’s Parish Kiphire (SPPK) recently organized a pilgrimage and outreach program from January 3 to 5. This spiritually enriching initiative was led by Rev. Fr. Philip Magh, the parish priest of St. Peter’s Kiphire, along with Rev. Fr. Thomas Toretkiu and catechists from nine village churches.
The participants, numbering over a hundred, departed from Kiphire at 4:30 AM on January 3rd, traveling to the Cathedral, a pilgrimage center of the Diocese, where they celebrated the Holy Eucharist. The serene atmosphere of the Cathedral provided a moment of deep reflection and spiritual connection for all attendees. Following the Eucharist, the group visited the War Cemetery, an emotionally resonant site where they paid homage to the sacrifices made by military personnel.
The second day of the pilgrimage saw visits to several locations, including St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Chunlikha, St. Mary Church in Kendinu, Don Bosco School in Lakhuti, St. Paul’s Church in Wokha Town, and the Doyang Hydro Electric Reservoir and Power Station.
These visits offered the catechists a chance to experience cultural diversity and community life across different regions.
Participants hailed from various churches, including St. Peter Church, Kiphire; St. Dominic Savio Church, Kiphire Village; St. Luke Church, Longmatra; St. Alphonsa Church, Ngoromi; Christ King Church, Hurong; St. Stephen Church, Singrep; St. John Church, Kiusam; St. Mary Church, Anatongre; and St. Thomas Church, Phelungre.
The programme concluded on January 5th with a Holy Eucharist at St. Peter’s Church, Tesophenyu, after which the catechists returned to Kiphire, reflecting on the meaningful journey of faith and fellowship they shared.
