Dimapur, January 28 (MExN): The Centre Chakhesang Public Organisation (CCPO) has appealed to village councils, Gaon Buras (GBs), Village Development Boards (VDBs), youth and students’ union leaders, women’s organisations and public leaders of the Centre Chakhesang area to participate in a significant visit scheduled on February 7.
According to the update issued by CCPO president Pupohu Lohe, the organisation will have the honour of receiving James P K Sangma, National Working President of the National People’s Party (NPP), Vice-President of the Council of State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation of India, Chairman of the Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), and President of the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA), on the said date prior to his scheduled programme at Pfutsero.
The organisation further informed that official confirmation has been received from a reliable source that Sangma has expressed his desire to visit the monolith stone at Porba village. The monolith was erected to commemorate the 53rd General Conference of the Chakhesang Students’ Union and the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Porbami Students’ Union in 2000, and was unveiled by late P A Sangma.
Stating that the visit holds historical and cultural significance, the CCPO appealed to public leaders of the Centre Chakhesang area to accompany the dignitary during the visit. The organisation said that the presence and participation of local leaders would help ensure that the guest gains an authentic and meaningful understanding of the site and its legacy.
