The Committee of Civil Societies of Kangleipak (CCSK), a pressure group in Manipur on Wednesday, said that it will fight tooth and nail against any force that attempts to disintegrate Manipur.

The statement of the CCSK came against the backdrop of Nagaland Governor and Interlocutor, RN Ravi's recent statement in which he had stated that the Centre is keen to conclude the Naga peace talks within three months.

Addressing a press conference at its office in Imphal’s New Chekon, CCSK president, Jitendra Ningomba said, “We welcome bringing a solution to the Nagas’ political issue.”

He added, "There will be no objection in any initiative to bring peace.” However, he stated that while taking peace initiative for "a community it should not infringe the interests of other communities". He also said that the Centre should not affect in any form the "integrity and harmony" of different communities living together in Manipur while resolving "an issue of a particular community". "If any settlement between the Government of India and the Nagas is against the interest of Manipur, an intense public uproar which never seen before will be occurred in Manipur".

Ningomba then said that the Centre is still not disclosing the contents of the Framework Agreement which the Centre signed with the NSCN (IM).

Meanwhile, citing the recent happenings in Jammu and Kashmir where the state was bifurcated after abrogating the Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, he said that CCSK has a strong apprehension of the same applying in the state of Manipur.

He urged the political parties in Manipur, both in the ruling and in the opposition, to have a close watch on the move of the Centre and take up all steps to prevent a similar move of the Centre in the state.
