CD on Chakhesang folk songs released

Kohima: A CD on Chakhesang folk songs entitled “Razu Shiilu” was released by Vevo Sapu, director art and culture here this morning.

This CD was sung and brought out by a Self Help Group (SHG) called Wiiza Chele from Sakraba under Phek district. The idea behind the venture is to revive and promote Chakhesang folk songs. It hoped that through this, the youngsters will get connected to its rich culture and traditions. Comprising 11 members mostly farmers, Wiiza Chele brought out this CD through their own earning from farming activities. It featured 19 songs.

Sapu acknowledged the effort of Wiiza Chele and hoped that they will not stop from here but continue to project the good image of the Chakhesang community to others. He exuded confident that the CD on Chakhesang folk songs will go in reviving as well as popularizing the rich culture and tradition of the Chakhesang community. Sapu also stressed on the need to propagate the message of the rich cultural and traditional values at the school level. The director said that songs gives ray of joy, happiness and peace, adding that it also unite the people.

Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) ex-presidents Vevoyi D. Vadeo and Thupukutho Lohe and public leader Nerayi D. Vadeo also present on the occasion.
