Medziphema, September 18 (MExN): Autumn Cup 2023, a football tournament for 35+, kicked off today at Local Ground, Medziphema.
The Chümoukedima District Football Referee Board (CDFRB) is organising the tournament under the theme, "Health First."
A total of 9 teams from different districts are taking part in the tournament being played on League-cum-knockout system, informed a CDFRB’s release.
Taking part in the tournament as Special Guest, James P Swu, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Medziphema lauded CDFRB for taking up the venture providing a platform for the middle aged and encouraging more physical activity, it said.
Citing the present scenario where many young people have ailment which are directly related to modern life style of comfort, he encouraged the people gathered to take up physical activity to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The opening match was played between the Leingai FC and All Blacks Club, Kohima, which the latter won by a solitary goal.
