Ceasefire shadows AR security meet

DIMAPUR, DEC 21 (MexN): A major closed door security conference of all the Assam Rifle Commandants deployed in Nagaland was held over two days at the IGAR head Quarter Jakhama which concluded today.

The security meet described as ‘extremely serious and important’ was chaired by Maj Gen SS Kumar IGAR to review the security situation in the state in which all security issues including the assessment of the emerging situation and other related matters were discussed and steps required to be taken to meet any eventuality in the event of the ceasefire breaking down.

All the Commandants have returned to their respective headquarters immediately after the meeting.

According to the appraisal made during the security conference, it was pointed out that the ceasefire may not be extended beyond the present 6 months period because the NSCN (IM) was insisting on integration, reliable source disclosed to The Morung Express. However, the source also said that anything may happen at the talk’s level which may either warrant the extension of the truce or its abrogation.
