Mokokchung, January 17: One month medical health camps is being conducted by Mobile Health Unit (MHU) and team this is a programme initiated by Community Educational Centre Society with support from “The Hans Foundation” to reach the rural masses specially women and child with proper health care services.
A press note received here stated that the health camp started from December 16, 2013, which is still on going, the MHU will wrap up its first round of medical camp on January 21, 2014. So far, the medical unit has covered 12 villages of Mokokchung District with more than 1000 patients registered with the MHU to avail free medical treatment and access to medicine and other medical services. Majority of women who attended the camp were from age group 50-70, with prevailing cases of backache and hypertention.
Villages where medical camp were conducted are: Kangtsung, Aopenzu, Wamaken, Kangtsung Yimsen, Aitlenden, Asangma, Yaongyimsen Village, Yaongyimsen Compound, Merangkong Village, Merangkong Compound, Changtongya Village, Changtongya Yimsen.
The MHU was launched on November 7, 2013 with an aim to reach and help rural and remote villages of the state by providing health care focusing on women and child. The MHU is a ‘critical health care unit’ ambulance which will provide free medicines, health check-ups, link to referral services, and promotion of healthy lifestyles etc., through health camps, awareness and more. The interior facilities of the MHU are highly equipped with all the basic lab and surgical tools with facilities to conduct emergency operation etc. CECS has a long-standing relationship with serving the community with special focus on Women empowerment, child rights and Education.
