Celebrating Childhood: State level mega event held in Jotsoma

The state level mega event on child rights and protection under the theme “Celebrating Childhood” took place today at Regional Centre of Excellence for Music & Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma.


The meet conveyed that every child has the right to survive, the right to family, the right to health, the right to education, the right to safety, the right to play and the right to live.


Three films on Non Institutional Care Service, POSCO and Adoption have been launched by Amenla Sashi, Secretary Social Welfare.


Apart from creating awareness on the alternative care services being implemented under the child protection services, the video also conveyed that child abuse is a serious threat to children. It portrayed that children have full of energy, ideas and hope for the future.


Earlier, Chubainla Jamir, Director, Child Protection Services urged upon the people to take a rigorous step in giving every child a safe and secure childhood.


She stressed on the need to stretch out further to give every child a reason to live. The child protection services website www.cpscnagaland.com was launched by K Atoli Sema, Director, Department of Social Welfare.


Children from 11 districts competed in cultural dance, where Bright Morning Star Children Home, Kohima bagged the first position, while Zavmast Children Home, Khulazu Basa under Phek district and Langsa Hill Children Home, Mon secured second and third positions respectively.


In photography competition held under the theme “Children of Nagaland,” Yabangthiri Changkiri bagged the first position while Chizokho Vero stood second. Vishü Rita Krocha and Nungtha Longkumer were joint holders of the third position.
