Dimapur, April 21 (MExN): Realizing the potential of organic farming in the State, Rani Kumudini, Joint Secretary (INM) along with Mercy Epao, Director DoNER and Er. Sandeep Janghu, Assistant Professor, Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu visited the organic fields of Tsiesema, Chunlika, Molvum and Bade village.
She also visited the Agriculture Department Laboratories at Medziphema, namely; Soil Chemist Lab, Bio-control Lab and Bio-fertolizer Lab. The team also visited Nagaland State Agricultural Marketing Board (NSAMB) complex at Agri-Expo Site 4th Mile Dimapur and Weekly market held in Dimapur. She had an interaction with the Farmers Producer Organization (FPO) and asks the FPO members to make best use of the Mission organic value chain development (MOVCD) Programme for North Eastern Region in order to promote marketing the organic farm produces to outside the State and beyond in the processed form for premium price.
She had also visited Nagaland Honey Bee Mission (NHBM) and Nagaland Bamboo Mission (NBM) complex and suggested the bee keeping can be incorporated in Organic clusters for production of organic honey by the same beneficiaries.
