Centre for Ghandian Studies in NU from Oct

Lumami, September 28 (MExN): The Nagaland University is setting up a Centre for Ghandian Studies and Research (CGSR) at its Headquarters, Lumami campus which aims to give a “special Certificate Course on Peace Development in Ghandian Perspectives’. The course is scheduled to begin from the first week of October 2010, and this certificate course will lead to Diploma course and even up to Post Graduate degree, disclosed the Director of the CGSR – NU, Prof Lanunungsang Ao.

CGSR – NU director, while inviting application for joining the course from interested applicants, disclosed that the minimum educational qualification required in three year BA Degree or a Masters Degree in any Arts stream from a recognized university. Applicants must have passed three-year Degree Course with Honours with 50% marks and for General streams, students of Arts and Commerce with 55%. However, 5% marks relaxation for SC/ST category will be considered, he said. However, preference will be given to those candidates who studied Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, Rural Development, Peace Studies, Philosophy and Economics.

Maintaining that this Course has immense scope for employment in different sectors, Prof Lanunungsang Ao said that the Center is trying to offer handsome scholarship to all the eligible candidates. Interested candidates are informed to submit their applications to the Director, along with attested copies of mark sheets and two copies of passport size photographs in plain paper or mail their application through email at lanuimchen@gmail.com. List of selected candidates will be placed on the notice board on October, 1, 2010 in the Department of Sociology, the CGRS – NU further informed.
