CEO assures transparency in DMC

Dimapur, February 22 (MExN): The Chief Executive Officer of Dimapur Municipal Council Nikhashe Sema took over as the administrative officer of the municipal today, after the dissolution of the DMC on February 21. Sema will be assisted by an Advisory Committee which will be constituted and sanctioned by the government. 

The Advisory Committee will comprise one third of the strength of the dissolved house of elected members. At least one women representative will be included in the committee. The CEO will take full charge over the municipal body till fresh election is announced by the government. All correspondence will be addressed to the CEO directly until further notice. 

Addressing the media after taking charge today, Sema assured transparency in all DMC dealings. The CEO said his priority will be to address the problems of sanitation in the city. He said the DMC will list out the number of stagnant water areas that need to be checked and repaired. Sema also assured measures to tackle prices of essential perishable commodities in the market, and that a mechanism to check prices of local produce will be sought. He said market inspectors will be at auction spots to check prices. 

Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Moangwati Aier urged the CEO to maintain transparency at all cost. Aier discouraged random appointments into the DMC and advised  maintaining proper office records  for  the  same. He also advised the civic body to adopt financial regulations. The DC further suggested computerisation of all DMC toll gates  to maintain uniform rates of taxation. He assured full cooperation and assistance to the civic body in all matters.  Nikhashe Sema is an NCS officer appointed by the government as CEO of the DMC. He was formerly a Project Officer in the department of Rural Development.
