CEO meets political parties

Kohima, October 1 (MExN): The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Nagaland Abhijit Sinha held a meeting with all political parties in the State on October 1 at Hotel Japfu, Kohima.

The meeting was convened in view of the announcement of schedule for bye elections in the 14 Southern Angami I and 60 Pungro Kiphire constituencies, according to a DIPR report.

The CEO and his team of officials briefed the representatives of the political parties about the broad guidelines issued by ECI for conducting elections during COVID-19.

Various provisions of Election Expenditure Monitoring, the enforcement of MCC, about EVMs/VVPATs, and several other pertinent issues connected with the conduct of the bye-elections were also shared in the meeting. IT initiatives taken by the Commission were also highlighted.

The CEO also informed about the Special Summary Revision of Electoral rolls with reference to January 1, 2021 as the qualifying date, the report stated.

Representatives of the BJP, INC, NDPP, NPF, NPP, JD (U), RPI (A) were present in the meeting, it added.
