
Kohima, June 16 (DIPR): A State SVEEP core committee meeting of political parties and NGOs was held at Hotel Japfü, Kohima on June 16, organized by Nagaland State Chief Electoral office.
Chief Electoral Officer (officiating), Nagaland, N Moa Aier, in his address called on all to work together for a clean election in thea State terming it a course of action in advance as the State is nearing elections. “We owe to ourselves and the people a clean and fair election,” he stated.
He further informed that the department is undertaking ventures on new software which will detect bogus or double entry in the electoral roll. An ‘election watch mobile Web’ has been launched by the department where public can make use of it for any information relating to election and its processes, it was informed.
Moa also stated that control room will be set up in all districts and sub-divisional headquarters where public can act as informants for a clean election.
Many suggestions were put forth to the State election office during the meeting. The CEO was assured of support by the political parties and NGOs in their effort to clean the prevailing electoral system with all its malpractices. At the same time, the CEO was urged to use his good office and exercise his constitutional power and resources and take action against those wrong doers and violators who work against free, fair and transparent election.
Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Vekho Vero gave a PowerPoint presentation on an overview of Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) at the meeting, which was attended by many imminent personalities and representatives from various political parties and NGOs.
