NZAU VILLAGE, NOVEMBER 1 (MExN): The two-day Chaga Gadi cum Mini Hornbill Festival, themed "Celebrating Our Roots," wrapped up at Nzau village in Peren district, with Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang and Minister for Tourism and Higher Education Temjen Imna Along in attendance as special guests.
In his address, Minister Along lauded the current government under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Dy CM TR. Zeliang and Y Patton for promoting the festival, which celebrates the rich culture of the Zeliang community. He urged attendees to foster happiness and unity through their cultural practices and to preserve their heritage, a DIPR report stated.
Deputy Chief Minister Zeliang echoed similar sentiments, calling for community collaboration and healing from divisions. He emphasized the importance of cultural expressions, such as songs and dances, in preserving the community's heritage.
The festival featured various cultural presentations, including traditional dances, indigenous games and folk songs, with compering by Adithbo Chewang and Silubui Namdau. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the organizing committee.
