Chakhabama-Zunheboto Road Project: Complaint lodged against construction company

Chozuba, June 6 (MExN): A complaint has been lodged with the Executive Director, National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) against Madhucon Company regarding the construction of the 2-lane Chakhabama-Zunheboto Road (Package III-A).

On June 6, the Committee on the 2-Lane Road, Phek District lodged the complaint stating that Madhucon Company has “seemingly abandoned their portion of 2 laning Chakhabama-Zunheboto construction in Phek district.” The complainants alleged that the company had shifted their machineries and workforce elsewhere.

“There is no indication of their sincerity and commitment to accomplish the project, or that within the stipulated period given by Supreme Court and before the nearing expiry of contractual agreement,” the complaint letter stated. It was appended by Convenor Vapramu Demo and Members Besupra Swuro and Zacilhu Vadeo.

The Committee pointed out that there were some local problems over compensation, for which the work was delayed in few pockets at one point of time. “But that matter has been solved and all hindrances cleared from all sides,” it underscored. It also compared the work progress achieved by Shivalaya Company on the same road and emphasised that “Madhucon Company has not achieved even quarter of the project,” while adding that the work executed by the Company “from beginning was disappointing.”

Urging the NHIDCL to immediately intervene and ensure completion of the project within the given time, the Committee maintained that “there is much public anger against the Company, and possibility of mass agitation or other course of action any day hereafter cannot be ruled out.”
