
Kohima, April 16 (MExN): The Chakhesang Students' Union (CSU) has resolved to fight against illegal taxation, extortion and corruption. This is the standing resolution of the CSU Union Assembly (2024-2026) held at Mesulumi Village.
In recognition of the critical role of youths and students in fostering economic growth and self employment through entrepreneurship and business venture, the CSU notified all the Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs)/Political Groups existing within the Chakhesang jurisdiction to refrain from extortion or collection of any form of tax or levy from the youths and students who are commencing into new business ventures and any existing businesses operating by the locals. This tax-free initiative aims to encourage and support young entrepreneurs in establishing their businesses without the additional burden of taxes; to create a conducive environment for innovation and enterprise; to facilitate economic stability and self-sufficiency within the community and thereby reducing unemployment.
Any Organizations, Union, Group or Individuals found violating this standing resolution will face stringent actions from the office of the CSU, a release issued by CSU vice president Povozo Soho and finance secretary Rhilo Chiero stated.
“We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the compliance of this directive and protecting the interests of our upcoming entrepreneurs. Any such activities found practiced by any Organizations, Union, Group or individuals must be reported immediately to the Chakhesang Students' Union office for necessary action,” the Union stated.
