Chakhesang Students' Union observes ‘Black Day’

Phek, October 3 (MExN): The Chakhesang Students' Union (CSU) observed ‘Black Day’ on October 3 at Government Higher Secondary School Phek along with its affiliated units. The programme was chaired by Thuputo Venuh, President Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union and invocation was pronounced by Nusakhoyi Assistant Teacher (GT) Department of Tenyidie GHSS Phek. Keynote address and brief speech on the black day was delivered by Nukuto Shizoh, Social and Cultural Secretary CSU.  

While highlighting about the ‘Black Day’ CSU President Dode Nakro in a press release stated that CSU observes ‘Black Day’ every year on October 3, in memory of Late Achikho Puro, the former Games & Sports Secretary CSU (2006-2008) who was killed in a joint operation of FGN (NA) and NSCN (K) on October 3, 2007 at AG colony Kohima. Following the killing incident, the Chakhesang Students' Union demanded the culprits involved to be booked and be rewarded with a befitting punishment as per the law of the land. Failing to adhere with the demand of the Union, the house subsequently in the Union Assembly unanimously declared Non-cooperation to both the Government involved i.e. FGN (NA) and NSCN (K).  

“The Union also takes this day to remember all those innocent victims whose life has been taken in factional clashes after clash,” the release added.  

Meanwhile, the union extended its condolence to the family of Late Achikho Puro and acknowledged the family of his services rendered to the Chakhesang Students' Union in particular and the community which will be always cherished and remembered.
