The Chang Khulei Setshang (CKS), which is the apex tribal body of the Chang Naga community, donated a laptop to the Government Higher Secondary School, Tuensang. It was handed to the Sunil Thakur, Senior Principal, GHSS Tuensang by CKS officials at the school office on November 2.

While receiving the laptop, Thakur acknowledged that in his 12 years as a school principal, this is for the first time he has seen a community coming forward to help on their own. “The initiative taken by the student body and other tribal bodies’ in helping and the collaborative effort towards the educational institutions is very encouraging and an eye opener for me,” said Thakur.

Thakur also mentioned that as a part of the Lighthouse (NECTAR) Project, the response from the community is immense and he was appreciative about it. As a part of outreach activity under the project, they reached out to dropouts and as a result a student re-joined school. The school is actively working on all the programmes under the project such as outreach activity, community participation, capacity building, and inclusion of vulnerable groups and reaching out to dropouts etc.

The school held its first ever alumni meet on 29th October which is also the project. It had a turnout of more than 30 alumni from different batches.

Toking Yimkhiung, EAC Tuensang who is also alumni spoke on the occasion. Senior teachers from different schools also took the podium to speak.
