Dimapur, December 6 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) Chang Region while appreciating the unification move made recently has stated that any such move on the principle of Naga unity must be a “conscientious and unanimous in the larger interest of our people” and that “the same must be supported by all section of the Naga people”.
“At the same time we also would like to state that any such unification move on the methods of omission of some particular tribes/community shall not be supported”, stated B. Moba Chang, CAO Chang Region, Tuensang. In a separate press note, CAO of Shepoumaramth Region NSCN (IM) L.D John stated that the Shepoumaramth Region in its meeting held on December 6 had resolved to reaffirm its support to the collective leadership of the NSCN (IM) and that the region “wants to express that unity, peace and reconciliation are the desires of our Naga people and that unification of the Nagas is s must”. It however stated that such unity must be broad based and all inclusive and that unity based on exclusivism has no meaning for Naga unification. “The Naga people should take such a move with a grain of salt”, the CAO stated while adding that the long Naga political struggle and hard earned peace process should not be allowed to go in vain.
“It should be nourished and helped to bear fruit for this to happen, we need understanding amongst ourselves”, it stated adding that “to bring more understanding, discrimination and hatred prevailing among the organization and societies should be removed”.
