Changki village responds to ‘Azha’

DIMAPUR, MARCH 23 (MExN): In response to the ‘Azha’ issued against Changki by the Joint Council Special Committee of the NSCN/GPRN (IM) that was reported in a local newspaper on March 20, 2012 issue, the Changki village has issued a statement signed by Imlimeren, President and Imtinochet, Secretary of Changki Ayim Asem Senso Mongdang (CAASM). In the first place, the press note stated that Changki village was making it abundantly clear to everyone that it has decided not to honor the ‘Azha’. The press note claimed that the ‘Azha’ was issued solely with the intent to create disharmony and division among the peaceful Changki villagers.

The press note stated that the Changki village was “indeed surprised as to how the Joint Council Special Committee”, instead of trying to bring understanding among the villagers, could issue “such parochial and one-sided ‘Azha’ thereby belittling the very image of its own organization” which had “provided statesmen like leaders to the Naga nation for many years”.

“It is uncalled for and unbecoming on the part of a committee representing NSCN (IM) to resort to such questionable and base means at a time when its leaders are struggling to bring about unity and understanding among the Nagas through just act and to find solution to the protracted Naga political problem”, the CAASM stated.

The Changki village expressed regret to mention that “such biased act of the Special Committee will alienate the Naga public”.  In conclusion the Changki village through the CAASM has appealed to “reasonable leaders within the NSCN/GPRN to dissuade its cadres not to meddle in a matter which has already been resolved with Ao Senden, the tribal apex body of Aos in October 2011”. The CAASM pointed out that “nothing good will come out by trying to rake up a case which has already been resolved peacefully”.
