Changkikong Range, one of the six ranges under Mokokchung district consisting of ten major villages namely Changki, Chugliyimsen, Khar, Mongchen, Dibuia, Alongkima, Waromung, Yimjenkimong, Molungkimong and Molungyimsen, has written to the Delimitation Commission of India demanding that the entire range be brought under one constituency by adjusting the boundaries of 29 Jangpetkong A/C, 30 Alongtaki A/C and 21 Tuli A/C.

Pointing out the advantages of merging the three constituencies into one, the representation argued that administration will be more convenient and all the developmental activities would be smoothly and successfully carried out. “The age old traditional unity among the range villages will be more strengthened. Hence the entire range will be at par with the entire Mokokchung district as well as with the rest of the State”, the representation signed by Opanglemba, President Changkikong Students’ Conference stated.

The representation also stated that geographically, Changkikong range is an unbroken continuous range forming one compact continuous region and that the entire range i.e. from Changki to Molungyimsen can be linked and connected through only one road popularly known as Changkikong road. It also informed that the entire Changkikong range is under Mangkolemba sub-division.

“But our range is fragmented and placed under three constituencies. For convenience of administration and progress of all round developmental activities, it is very proper to place the entire range under one constituencies”, it urged the Delimitation Commission while lamenting that for more than four decades, the range had been fragmented and remained the least developed and most backward in the entire Mokokchung district.
