Changtongya | January 17

For the past three years, the citizens of Changtongya have been diligently working towards one goal - to successfully host the 67th Ao Students' Conference.

The triennial conference is the biggest confluence of Ao students' community held under the aegis of Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM), the apex students' body of the Ao Nagas.

As the penultimate day approaches, a sense of nervousness and anticipation is perceptible in the air, as the citizens make finishing touch to the preparation they have been making for the last three years.

When The Morung Express visited the conference hall, workers entrusted with different duties are in hectic activities giving last minute touches.

With around 1500 student delegates alone, beside officials and others members, it's a no mean task.

While Changtongya has around 556 households, every household is engaged to the fullest with the intention of being a good host and providing their best to the delegates.

Rebuilding, renovation and refurbishing have been the recurring theme among the villagers this year.

The road leading to Changtongya as well as the vicinity look squeaky clean and well-decorated giving the best impression.

Besides time and energy, funds for all the activities and renovation were raised internally within the villagers. Compulsory as well as voluntary donations were made.

By Tuesday, most of the village citizens residing outside had reached and were lending a helping hand in the preparation to welcome the delegates.

A sense of festivity is in the air as the citizens wait to host one of the biggest events of the Ao community.
