Changtongya, September 13 (MExN): The Changtongya Town Baptist Church (CTBA) organised a three-day special revival programme from September 11 to 13, with hundreds of believers participating and rededicating their lives to Christ, according to the church's media team.
The programme held special significance as it commemorated the 50th anniversary of the revival movement that began in Changtongya town in 1976.
The Christian revival of the late 1970s is regarded as a significant milestone in Nagaland's religious history, marking a period when revival programmes were held with renewed fervour and believers attributed spiritual experiences, miracles and conversions to the movement.
The Changtongya Town Baptist Arogo was among the first churches where the revival movement took root, the church said.
The commemorative revival was held on the theme, "Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?" based on Psalms 85:6.
Dr Chujang Aier, president of the International Evangelistic Fellowship (IEF), was the main speaker throughout the programme. He was assisted by a team of counsellors from different churches.
During the programme, several believers shared their life testimonies, speaking about what they described as the life-changing power of Jesus Christ and the spiritual renewal they experienced.
Asangla Luen, daughter of Rev M I Luen, a former pastor of CTBA and one of the pioneers of the Nagaland revival movement, also shared her testimony on the power of the Holy Spirit.
She also presented the CTBA with a memento depicting the pioneers of the revival movement of the 1970s, commemorating the early days of the movement.
A healing service was held on the final day following the devotional service conducted by Sashi Kichu, pastor of Mongsenyimti Compound Baptist Church.
During the healing service, members of the healing team prayed for people described as ill and weary from Changtongya town and other places, as well as those who joined the programme through online streaming.
People seeking physical and spiritual healing approached the prayer warriors for prayers and sought what the organisers described as the healing power of Christ.
The programme was organised to commemorate five decades since the revival movement began in Changtongya in 1976.
